Job portal for internal and external online applications
A. Person responsible (Controller)
Thank you so much for your interest in applying for a position at Autostadt GmbH, Stadtbrücke, 38440 Wolfsburg, referred to in the following as Autostadt GmbH. Autostadt GmbH is registered at Braunschweig Municipal Court, Commercial Register No. HRB 100419. The following will give you all the information you need to know about how Autostadt GmbH will be processing your personal data in your application using our online job application system.
Any other group company you may have applied to will be acting as an independent controller in the following job application process; please take note of any additional details in the respective job vacancy.
Refer to our Privacy Policy in the footer of the portal for details on how we process your data alongside your candidate profile when you use our job portal.
B. Processing personal data
1. Your job application using our job portal
We will only be processing the personal data you have provided in your job application using our online application system as far as we need to for your application to be processed effectively and properly. This also applies to any data you might add during the application process such as any queries and documents you would like to submit for your application at a later time. The online application process will request the data we need to support your online job application. The corresponding required fields that need to be filled out are marked as such using a red asterisk. You may also provide addition information in optional fields not marked by a red asterisk, but you are not required to do so. Some fields may be prepopulated from data we already have in your candidate profile if you have already created one.
Relevant personal data will include:
- Master data and personal information such as your title, name, identified gender, date and place of birth, nationality, personal contact details, and marital status.
- Application data including your cover letter, CV, references, highest qualification, and certificates.
- Any information on marital status such as whether you are living in a marriage, registered civil partnership, and whether you have children; the data may include your sexual orientation if you state this in your application.
- Health data for severe disabilities and reasonable adjustments: You may voluntarily provide any information on especially sensitive personal data relating to a severe disability or reasonable adjustments for us to ensure that a representative for severely disabled persons is involved in the selection process.
- We will collect your registration data – your first and last name, country of residence and address, e-mail address, and password – to send you access data for our job portal.
We may also request additional data that we may need for the application process depending on your individual processing status and as necessary for us to bring your job application to a successful conclusion.
You may hide your candidate profile in the job portal and only make it visible for specific applications. Your profile will be visible to our recruiters responsible for handling the job application that you have filed with us.
Your data will be transmitted in encrypted form.
You may also tell us how you found out about our job vacancies when you apply for us to make our job offers more attractive to future applicants. This information is of course voluntary and will not affect your application.
2. Is there any obligation to provide personal data?
You are not under any legal or contractual obligation to provide us with your data. However, applying for a specific post advertised in our job portal will require you to provide your data for Volkswagen AG or the group company advertising the position to process your application and ultimately decide on whether to employ you; please take note of any additional details in the respective job vacancy.
3. Legal basis for processing your personal data
We will be processing your personal data with the main aim of managing the application procedure and deciding on whether to conclude an employment contract with you according to GDPR Art. 6.1 (b) in conjunction with German Data Protection Act (BDSG) Section 26 paragraph 1 sentence 1. If necessary, we will process especially sensitive personal data to assess your ability to work according to GDPR Art. 9.2 (h) in conjunction with German Data Protection Act (BDSG) Section 22, paragraph 1, No. 1, letter c.
4. Processors
The company SAP Deutschland SE & Co.KG (Hasso-Plattner-Ring 7, 69190 Walldorf) operates the Volkswagen AG job portal, which integrates the application process together with participating group company subpages. We will therefore be processing your data through SAP SE as a contract processor. We will store your data in a data centre in Germany with backups kept on servers located in Europe.
Volkswagen AG also uses other service providers as contract processors authorised to access your data to the extent defined in the contract. These include:
- Volkswagen Group companies that provide services such as IT services to Volkswagen AG for recruiting system operation and support
- Service companies such as the job applicants’ hotline and data processing jobs in the recruiting process
- Background check service providers
- Hosting service providers such as software suppliers for online selection procedures
5. Data deletion
We will automatically delete the data we have collected from you for the respective job application from the system 180 days after concluding the respective job application process unless the following conditions apply:
- You log into your profile within 180 days
- You are still in an active application process
You may also update or delete your data/candidate profile yourself at any time in the system.
You may withdraw your application and/or adjust your profile visibility settings at any time. We will take this into account in the application process.
You may also delete your profile at any time or request us to do so by sending us an e-mail to bewerbermanagement@autostadt.de. Regardless of the above, you may also exercise your right to be forgotten as described below.
6. Anonymisation
Your data may be used in anonymised form to optimise our application processes according to GDPR Art. 6.4. The anonymisation process will remove any reference to your identity.

D. Your rights
You may assert your rights against Autostadt GmbH at any time free of charge as described in the following. See Section E (contact persons) for details on how to exercise your rights.
Right to disclosure: You may request information from us on how we process your personal data according to GDPR Art. 15.
Right to rectification: You may request rectification of incorrect or incomplete personal data held on you according to GDPR Art. 16.
Right to be forgotten: You may request erasure of your data as long as the conditions according to GDPR Art. 17 apply. This allows you to request us to erase your data that we no longer need for the reason we collected the data, for example. You can also request deletion if you have previously given us consent and later withdrawn your consent for us to process your data.
Right to restriction on processing: You may demand a restriction on processing your personal data as long as the conditions according to GDPR Art. 18 apply. One example of this might be if you dispute the accuracy of your data. In this case, you may request a restriction on your data being processed while the accuracy of your data is in review.
Right to objection: You may object to us processing your data for reasons related to your particular situation in cases where we have been processing your data to protect a proportionate vested interest. If you wish to file an objection, we would ask you to tell us the reasons for your objection. We will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling vested interests for processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or to establish, exercise, or defend our own legal claims.
Right to data portability: You may request any data we have collected on you using automated processing by your consent or for contract fulfilment with the data in a structured generic machine-readable format for transfer to another data processor according to GDPR Art. 20.
Right of revocation: You may revoke your consent to data processing by your consent previously given at any time free of charge with effect for the future according to GDPR Art. 7.3 in conjunction with German Data Protection Act (BDSG) Section 26 paragraph 2. Revoking your consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before revocation.
Right of complaint: You may also file a complaint with a supervisory authority such as the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony on processing your data according to GDPR Art. 77.
